Information Cycle

Okay, but Why Do I Need to Know About This?

Knowing how information cycles through our world can tell you a lot. Mainly, it can give you an idea of what sources you'll find when looking up a topic. For example, when there's a newsbreaking story, there's little information to go on. However, as time goes on, more is added as information is available.

For a topic or concept that's new, there may not be many peer-reviewed sources. Academic journals take longer to publish articles, and books take even longer. Therefore, you may only find news artcles.

See the infographic below on how information is created over time!
