What It's Good For What It's NOT Good For
Generate ideas and themes: (e.g. brainstorming topics, generating a list of themes for events) Finding sources: Some sources may be real, but can generate sources that doesn't exist.
Translation: can translate text into a different language Utilizing Experience: It won't factor in your experience or background into its answer.
Planning: Create travel plans, project outlines, etc. (e.g. our Student Success Librarian used it to create a website redesign plan) Finding up to date material: Remember, ChatGPT uses datasets, so anything it generates is based on those datasets. Some will be up to date, but not all of them.
Can write or debug code. Writing Essays: Can it write an essay? Yes. Is it always accurate, well-structure and organized, and have an authentic voice (aka your voice)? No.

Not Good For:
-Generating long-form content (essays, lyrics, poetry, etc.)
-Generating images or digital art

 

Tool What It's Used For
Magic ToDo Creates a To Do list. Add a task on the list, and then select the Break Down Item icon to break that task down into manageable steps!
Formalizer Copy text into a box, ask for Goblin Tools to make it sounds more formal, snarky, etc. and it will rewrite the text based on your request.
Judge Copy text into a box, and Goblin Tools will tell you how your text comes across in terms of tone.
Professor Type something you want to learn about in the box, and Goblin Tools will give you an explanation, as well as an example.
Estimator Type in a task or activity in the box, and Goblin Tools will roughly estimate how much time it will take to complete it.
Compiler Brain dump a bunch of text, ideas, or tasks into the box, and Goblin Tools will turn it into a task list.
Chef Will create a recipe based on what ingredients, dietary restrictions, serving sizes, equipment, time, budget, etc. you type in the box.

Google Gemini (Formerly Known as Google Bard)

What it's Good For What it's NOT Good For
Can write and debug code. Usage limit. Can only use about 500 times a month between all Google products.
Can explain concepts like math or physics. Creating images or digital art; better for research/finding/summarizing information.
Helping with grammar and other mechanics for writing papers. Creates nonexistent citations or sources.
Working with Google Products, including summarizing documents in Google Drive. May be biased, depending on the datasets it's been trained on.

Can write or debug code. Bias: Only knows what it's trained on (like above), so may be biased.

Provides links to sources related to your prompt/request. Finding sources: Some sources may be real, but can generate sources that doesn't exist.
Translation: can translate text into a different language. Utilizing Experience: It won't factor in your experience or background into its answer.
Planning: Create travel plans, project outlines, etc. (e.g. our Student Success Librarian used it to create a website redesign plan). Finding up to date material: Datasets Perplexity is trained on may not be up to date. 
Can write or debug code. Generating Images: Perplexity.AI cannot generate or edit images, it is purely language-based.
